ABOUT
For Central Saint Martins students the project worked alongside LVMH https://www.lvmh.com to create a mini collection using their dead stock materials in order to create a sustainable collection.
Students were able to choose their own teams consisting of 3 students from each pathway- print, knitwear & fashion design with marketing, coming up with their own ideas and research until the post apocalyptic world idea came about.
‘In order to survive the harsh, extreme climates our garments would have to be worn.’ explains Drew Kent, one of the students who took part in this project.
FLOE, explores how garments can adapt to extreme environments while providing an impactful yet fluid style. This is created with our extensive experimentation towards technical color dies, impactful print, and knit/ textile exploration. The silhouettes we have designed reflect our hope and aspirations on how we envision a well functional yet luxury garment to be envisioned in various extreme conditions of our climate constantly changing.
We have personally immersed ourselves in exploring existing adapta- tions of how humans have had to adapt and survive in the coldest and warmest weather conditions. We have intricately looked into the wearability and survival aspects of the shaping and bold functionality details of the acquired garments used to live amongst these treacherous conditions. However, our main point of inspiration has been the beauty and color of the extreme landscapes themselves and how the effects of harsh ice storms and scorching heat waves can dramatically change the spaces.
